Art Education

Each exhibition is accompanied by a varied supporting program of innovative art education formats. In addition to public and private guided tours, there is a wide range of activities for all ages.

Kirchner Day, a day for all

Just want to get a spontaneous taste of the museum atmosphere or delve deeper into a particular work? On Kirchner Day, the first Wednesday of the month, admission is free. Immerse yourself in the world of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and discover his impressive work.

Children

Three-quarter art for children

Doing crafts, painting, moving, and doing puzzles in the midst of the exhibition. Here, the children become creators themselves, but with their own bodies, rather than with brushes and paint. They create exciting pictures in connection with works from the exhibition. At the end, a photo will be taken with the instant camera.

Davos Holiday Pass

The Davos Holiday Pass is for local school children from Davos. During summer vacation, Pro Juventute’s varied courses provide children with the opportunity to try out a wide range of things. The Kirchner Museum Davos is part of this and offers creative workshops for children of all ages.

All schoolchildren in the Davos region who are in 1st to 9th grade in the spring are eligible.

The KiD Playground Fest

Play, paint, do handicrafts, have fun, and have a great time together. Every year, young and old celebrate the big open-air Playground Fest at Kurpark. The Kirchner Museum is present with easels for painting. The Playground Fest at Kurpark is organized annually by the Davos Family Council.

Children’s birthday party in the museum

We organize an unforgettable children’s birthday party at a unique location. The children follow different clues of a scavenger hunt and explore the current exhibition, accompanied by thrilling puzzles and lots of creative activities, including in the studio. The exciting encounters culminate in eating cake together.

Basic flat price: CHF 250.–
Flat cleaning fee: CHF 50.–
Cost of materials per child: CHF 5.–
Surcharge outside opening hours: CHF 50.–

For groups of 4 to 12 children.

Schools

Independent visit

You are welcome to visit the museum independently with your class. For organizational reasons, we ask that you inform us of your planned visit so that we can avoid having two groups visit at the same time. On request, we can provide free coloring templates for classes with younger students. Provide at least one adult chaperone for every 10 children.

School classes can also visit the museum outside opening hours by prior arrangement (before 11 a.m. and on Mondays). There is a charge of CHF 50 per hour.

Accompanied visit

After a brief introduction to Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the students work in small groups to explore the techniques the artist used. They take a creative approach to the Expressionist’s art. The various assignments are then displayed and discussed in the group.

Maximum of 20 people. Provide at least one adult chaperone for every 10 children.
One accompanied visit equals 2 lessons. Activities are adapted to different grade levels.

Basic flat price: CHF 100.–
Cost of materials per child: CHF 5.–
Surcharge outside opening hours: CHF 50.–

School projects

Are you organizing a project week that involves art? Contact us and we will come up with exciting collaboration opportunities.

The Canton of Graubünden contributes to costs relating to museum visits and cultural projects in schools. For more information, please refer to the canton’s website.

Introduction for educators and advanced training

Every Wednesday following the opening of a new exhibition, there is an introduction for educators from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. They are given insight into the accompanied guided tour for schools and an overview of the exhibition. Relevant for all grade levels and school types from kindergarten to vocational school.

Art, coffee, and cake. A relaxed discussion about selected works in the current exhibition, followed by a cozy conversation over coffee and cake. For seniors and everyone else.

In dialogue with …

Experience a fresh and unexpected view of the exhibition. “In dialog with ...” is an open discussion format inviting people from different life situations—with or without an art background—to share their perspective and engage in a dialogue with us. Yoga in the Museum

Meditative and mindful movement is also an art—especially in a museum. Enjoy a special yoga class with a short introduction and against the backdrop of a selected work.

Per person: CHF 35.–

Fee includes admission to the museum, introduction, yoga lesson.
No registration required. If interested, arrive at the museum a few minutes before the session starts.
Please bring your own yoga mat. Mats can be borrowed if needed.

Colorful German. Learn German in the Museum

Is German a foreign language for you? At the museum, we talk at varying language levels about favorite paintings, art and what it triggers in us. Let your thoughts run free in an open environment and speak freely and informally in a foreign language. In cooperation with IG offenes Davos.

Reading between the lines

The literary program at the museum. We read texts from autobiographies, diaries, works of literature and criticism and discuss them in the context of the exhibition. To see words and works of art enrich one another is inspiring and opens up new horizons.
